Product Testing & Validation Procedure
Standards First
Gutter Brudderz uses a structured vendor testing process to evaluate products before they are approved for regular sale. The purpose of this process is to measure quality, consistency, and reliability across actual production runs rather than relying on a single sample or supplier claims.
Our standard is built around repeatable test batches and clear pass OR fail thresholds.
Sample Run Structure
A vendor test begins with a sample run of 5 items of the same exact product variant.
This first run is used to evaluate both:
Individual Inspection — whether each item is acceptable on its own
Batch Inspection — whether the 5-item run shows acceptable consistency as a group
The goal is not simply to find one good item. The goal is to confirm that the vendor can produce the same product consistently within a single run.
Individual Inspection
Each item in the sample run is inspected on its own.
Inspection may include, where applicable:
product construction
material quality
sizing accuracy
print or decoration quality
placement and alignment
color consistency
stitching and finish
defects or damage
overall presentation
Each unit must stand on its own as an acceptable product.
Batch Inspection
After the individual review, the full set of 5 items is evaluated as a batch.
This inspection looks for consistency across the production run, including:
uniform print quality
consistent placement
color consistency
material consistency
consistent construction and finish
recurring defects or variation
A batch is not considered successful simply because a few items look good. We are testing whether this single production run behaves consistently.
First Run Outcomes
The first sample run is evaluated using the following rules:
If all 5 of 5 items pass:
The product clears the first run successfully. A second sample run of 5 items is ordered using the same product in a different variant.
The second run is evaluated using the same standards.
If 4 of 5 items pass:
The product clears the first run successfully. A second sample run of 5 items is ordered using the same product in a different variant.
The second run is evaluated using the same standards.
If 2 items fail:
This is an automatic pause and examination point.
We pause and speak with the vendor before retesting.
This result indicates a quality concern serious enough to require discussion before additional testing continues.
A result at this level indicates the product or vendor performance is not reliable enough to continue normally without investigation.
Second Run Requirement
If the first run produces 4 passes out of 5, the product does not immediately pass overall validation.
Instead, a second 5-item batch is required, using:
the same product
a different variant
the same inspection standards
This second run helps confirm that performance was not limited to one isolated variant, or one isolated production run.
Overall Success Standard
Across two runs, the product must achieve at least 80% success to pass our vendor / product validation.
That means the product must show acceptable quality and consistency across the full test cycle, not just in a single favorable batch.
Pause and Review Conditions
Testing is paused for review when performance suggests a meaningful quality or consistency issue.
The sole pause conditions is:
2 failures in a 5-item run, triggering vendor discussion before retesting
In these cases, we do not continue as if the result were acceptable. We review the issue & discuss the problem before deciding whether to retest, revise the product approach, or discontinue evaluation.
Purpose of This Process
This procedure is designed to answer one simple question:
Can this vendor produce this product with acceptable quality and consistency across real production runs?
That is the standard we care about.
A single good sample is not enough. A product must demonstrate repeatable success before it is trusted for broader sale.
Validation Outcome
Approved
The product meets the required success standard.
Paused for Review
The test results indicate quality or consistency concerns that require examination before further testing.
Retest Pending
Additional testing is required after vendor discussion or after completing the second run.
Rejected
The product does not meet the standard required for approval.
This is an ongoing process designed to help ensure consistent product quality for our customers.
